Calfskin and Goatskin Heads for Bass Drums

Our STANDARD calfskin and goatskin heads are the highest grade, which we carry in a wide range of sizes. STANDARD heads are the highest grade calfskin and goatskin heads, produced domestically with a careful eye to consistency in thickness.

We also carry BASIC grade calfskin heads in a limited range of sizes. We use the terminology "basic" to mean imported calfskin heads that are not as consistent as the "standard" calfskins in thickness and color. These calfskins are an economical alternative to the higher priced "standard" calfskins.

In addition, we also stock BASIC grade goatskin heads. These goatskins are most appropriate for use by period reenactors and when restoring vintage drums and drums that are collectible for display

We list heads for up to 30" diameter bass drums. Please contact us for larger bass sizes, or if you have any questions about the size or thickness of calfskin or goatskin that you need. The basic skins are available only in 30" and 36" diameter, and the listings here reflect that.

There are several options for ordering these heads. You can order the flat (untucked) skin, or the skin pretucked on a new flesh hoop, or you can choose to send us your existing flesh hoop to use for tucking the new head.
